About the GRE

The GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) is the most widely accepted standardized test for graduate school admissions worldwide. Administered by ETS, it is accepted by thousands of graduate programs in business, law, and many other fields — often as an alternative to GMAT, LSAT, or program-specific tests. The GRE General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing skills. Since 2023, the test has been shortened to about 1 hour 58 minutes (from 3h 45m).
